Mk Open exhibition

I have had three prints selected again for this local exhibition at the beautiful and historic listed building Westbury Farm.

Aeonium

This is a woodcut of one of my favourite garden plants. My daughter bought it for me from the Eden project, it was quite small to start with but is now nearly as tall as me 😊

Bucks Art Weeks 2022

Bucks Art weeks started yesterday and I had a really great day with lots of lovely visitors. 😀Thankyou to the person who had purchased Greenhouse Earth at Great print 7 at The Reghed Gallery In Penrith, and came to see my studio and find out about my work yesterday - and bought another of my prints too ☺️.

Society Graphic Fine Arts

Delighted to have two of my prints in this show. I would really like to be selected as a member as drawing has always been a big part of my life 😊.

Just finished

Down the Manor, past the Nags. Finished painting this morning just in time for deadline of Mk Open 22. Today😱. Hope it gets selected. Fingers crossed 🤞

DoWn the Manor, past The Nags

Printed this yesterday. Quite pleased, though it needs some tweaks.

Sunflowers for Ukraine

New woodcut - down the manor, past the Nag’s

Another large woodcut based on Manor Park, Great Linford which is very near to my house and has just had a wonderful Heritage Lottery funded complete makeover.

I was a bit against it to begin with as I thought it might spoil a much loved local rather wild space, but actually it’s a brilliant job. Well done to all.

Swiss garden dreams

Woodcut based on visit to Swiss Gardens in Bedfordshire

Making of a woodcut

Please watch my video, it took me a while to put it together. Always a learning curve for me when I do these things.

DRAWING FOR NEW WOODCUT

First new work of 2022, drawing collaging together ironwork detail from The Swiss Garden at Shuttleworth with flora drawn from this and other gardens I’ve visited. Great to be back making some new work after a really busy end to last year. I had many prints to paint and finish for exhibition at the Obsidian Gallery in Buckinghamshire, and for Great Print 7 at the Reghed Gallery, Penrith.

Busy time in my studio

It’s been ages since I have written anything here and mainly it’s because I’ve been so blooming busy 😀. During Bucks Art Weeks (Open Studios) this year, despite having fewer visitors than previous years I sold quite a lot of prints, which was great. I was also contacted by Teresa at The Obsidian Gallery near Aylesbury who kindly invited me to show my work in their summer exhibition, so I then needed to get more prints painted ready for there.

Then I had a lovely email from The Reghed Gallery in Penrith, inviting me to take part in their- Great Print Exhibition 7, and I have just had several framed and browser items plus Christmas cards collected by a lovely person from Aardvark Art Services which will go up in the Reghed gallery exhibition and online shortly.
Oh, and our garden pond decided to lose all its water so we had an emergency pond refurb to do, which deffo hadn’t been on my to-do list 😀.
All in all - a very busy few weeks, now I’m really looking forward to getting cracking on some new work. Watch this space!

Christmas cards and print painting.

Pottery shard woodcut

I recently found a shard of pottery whilst digging my potato patch. I liked the pattern and the colours so decided I would use it as inspiration for a new print. Most of the houses I have lived in have been old and the main type of broken pottery I have found has been blue willow pattern, now I live in a to me modern house built in the 1970’s I found it interesting that the discarded ephemera is of the more recent past.

Bucks Art Weeks - Open Studios

Getting ready to welcome visitors to my studio, bit slow this year as due to the ongoing situation wasn’t sure it was going ahead. At the moment, fingers crossed its all systems go!

Bred in capTivity - aviarY

Printing this new woodcut this morning. Inspired by a visit to Waddesdon Manor, this is loosely based on the Aviary which has been extensively renovated in recent years and is very beautiful. The plants inside were not all within the structure but were in other places in the gardens. I will probably colour this though I quite like the simple version.
