Commissioned as one of three resident artists on this DOH funded £137,000 research scheme, directly responsible for the design of two courtyards;
The brief -to redevelop specific courtyards areas of the hospital into pleasant, useable spaces incorporating design and artwork produced using ideas from the various groups with guidance and assistance from other members of the project team.
I designed and assisted with the construction of the hard landscaping for the courtyards to allow disabled access, and designed and produced integral artworks for both spaces- sculptural pieces and wall mounted work. I also specified the planting plan and layout with assistance from a consultant landscape architect.
During the project I worked with hospital clinical staff and user groups and members of the local community, including volunteers from Barclays Bank, the Probation Service and MK Mind, with landscape architects and the hospital Facilities and Estates Departments.
This project has reached successful completion and is now open to all visitors, staff and patients using the hospital.
All students in the school took part in the workshops to produce vinyl banners on the theme ‘Togetherness’, this was a fairly large-scale project and was produced using digital media.
